Architecture and technologies
The Voxpim Server is a high available, scalable and modular service platform designed to meet the requirements of modern operators in term of Personal Information Management (PIM) service delivery.
J2EE oriented technology
Voxpim Server technological foundation is build upon the popular Java technology (J2EE). This technological choice has been pushed by the necessity for Voxmobili to use a mature and stable technology. Broadly adopted by the IT industry and the telecom environment, Voxpim Server can thus be deployed on any J2EE capable application server. Well known technology, reusability of existing software module, reusability of existing hardware platform and mainstream operating systems, makes Voxpim Server extremely versatile in any operator environment.
Modern and modular architecture
Separation is fundamental within the Voxpim Server architectural philosophy. By essence all the PIM modules part of the Service Engine layer (Address Book, Calendar and Tasks & Notes) are independent from the middleware layer (Java) and the database layer. By separating the data sources for each layer and ensuring clean and independent interfaces between the different architectural layers, the Voxpim Server services can be expanded without impacting horizontally and vertically the layers and the modules.
Voxpim Server is made of an intelligent display interface called the Display Engine. The flexibility of the Display Engine enables the User Interface to be customized, branded and localised based on specific operator's requirements. The Display Engine allows any services to be published in any existing modern markup languages. Therefore, Voxpim Server services are considered to by multi-access and generally available on any internet like protocol: HTTP (HTML, xHTML), WAP (WML 1.1, WML 2.0), iMode (cHTML) and even voice (VoiceXML). Voxpim services can be leveraged using the SMS (SMS Pull & WAP Push) and the MMS bearer via the Wireless Messaging Engine, which interfaces the leading SMSC (SMPP, UCP), MMSC and PPG.
Open interfaces
Branded to be seamlessly integrated within the operator's environment, Voxpim brings deeper level of integration by developing and releasing comprehensive and extensive API library families for each functional layer. All the APIs can be invoked in order to increase the existing internal functional coverage of the service modules either horizontally (cross -module functional collaboration) or vertically (functional specialization of the module). As well APIs can be used to transmit/receive specific information to/from external applications.
